What Prompted Basilian Father Timothy Scott to Tweet “STFU” to Cardinal Burke?

A couple of days ago, many became aware of a disgusting “tweet” on Twitter sent by Basilian Father Timothy Scott to Raymond Cardinal Burke.  In case you missed it, the evidence can be found at ChurchMilitant.tv and many other blogs.  Father Timmy had an outburst and directed his wrath to Cardinal Burke tweeting him to “shut the f—k up.”  But why did Father Timmy have such uncontrollable rage that he would lash out in such despicable language at a Cardinal?  Has Cardinal Burke gone onto Twitter and tweeted something to Father Timmy?  Has Cardinal Burke written a scathing article about Father Timmy?  What exactly did Cardinal Burke do to Father Timmy that was so terrible that Father Timmy had to publicly curse at him?

Who is Basilian Father Timothy Scott anyway?  Well, for starters, he’s a buddy of Basilian Father Thomas Rosica, the “man” who has threatened to sue a real Catholic who has reported and opined on the heterodox utterings and writings of “Father”, and which has apparently been financially damaging in the loss of subscribers to “Father”‘s television network and website.  After Rosica took his shot at the Vox Cantoris blog writer, he has been taking unrelenting fire from others, including me, who find his twist on the Catholic Faith to be dangerous to the salvation of unwitting Catholics and who are determined to stop these unCatholic priests from hiding in the Church they seek to undermine.  Father Timmy is also, until yesterday, the spokesman for the Basilian Fathers.  Apparently, the Basilian Fathers aren’t too proud of Father Timmy’s outburst.  However, Father Timmy was elected general councillor of the Basilian Fathers in 2010, according to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops website, where he helps direct the the governance of the Basilian Fathers, and apparently remains in that post; one can only trust that the other general councillors understand the gravity of the situation and his poor reflection on the order in the coming days.  Father Timmy is also appointed by the CCCB as Executive Director of the Canadian Religious Conference, and began his three-year term on January 1, 2015.  No doubt his expletive invective to Cardinal Burke brings into question how he could remain in a position to serve the various religious orders in Canada.  Father Timmy is also a delegate of the CCCB on the Catholic-Lutheran Church-Canada dialogue.  Again, his dialogue with a Catholic Cardinal cannot be seen to enhance his ability to represent the Canadian Bishops with Lutherans.  Thus, Father Timmy has now tarnished the bishops of Canada, and will continue to do so if left as their representative after such a disgusting attack on Cardinal Burke.  The question remains as to what action the Canadian Bishops will take to address this.

Father Timmy is also a member of the Theological Commission for the Canadian Religious Conference, an organization that claims to be “a voice for and service to leaders of religious institutes and societies of apostolic life” whose mission is “to encourage its members to live fully their vocation in following Christ” and whose emphasis on “social justice became a common denominator.”  Father Timmy is a fine representative of the Conference, and no doubt they are very proud of him today.  Perhaps, his tweet to Cardinal Burke reflects their own feelings since their mission statement states that they look “for audacious ways of interpreting faith and life so as to embrace the new vision of the universe.”  Well, the tweet was certainly audacious!  Maybe the “new vision of the universe” calls for Faithful Cardinals to be attacked by “STFU” tweets.  I expect fully that the Conference will keep him as their representative on the Theological Commission since his bold tweet fully reflects their mission to “support its members in their prophetic witness to justice and peace within society and the church.”

It appears then that Father Timmy believes his prominence called for a bold statement to Cardinal Burke, for whatever it could have been that prompted it.  I have heard it is because of the interview Cardinal Burke gave a couple of weeks ago to the French press wherein he said that he would have to resist a pope who went against the dogmas of the Faith.

However, I believe it also has to do with that uncomfortable situation that “Father” Rosica, prominent English spokesman of the Vatican, which has brought upon himself and the Vatican and the rightfully deserved scorn he has received for his attack on not only the Vox Cantoris blog, but its author with his threat to sue him for his truthful posts.  The dozens of blogs that reported this dastardly act and threat and who have taken the time to show that “Father” Rosica has unquestionably questionable Catholic beliefs, that reveal him to be more of a protestant dissenter than a Faithful Catholic, have replied.  Perhaps, Father Timmy and Rosica believe Cardinal Burke is emboldening real Catholics to take on the heterodox priests posing as good Catholics. “Father” Rosica believed that his threat would stop Vox Cantoris from revealing this, but instead has resulted in many more now taking a closer look and exposing his charade.  No doubt his fellow Basilian Father in Canada has been upset by this too and so he lashes out at Cardinal Burke, who is apparently the direct cause of the spotlight on Rosica.

How is it that Cardinal Burke is the target of the counterattack?  What he has done is to state since October that he will not support the scheme to permit the Eucharist to be profaned by unrepentant and unabsolved adulterers and active homosexuals through a “pastoral” dispensation devised by other Cardinals and likely the pope.  He has become the visible face and voice of real Catholics who try to live according to every dogma of the Faith for their own salvation, for that of their families, and for that of all Catholics, and who will not be silent or passive when our Lord fully Present in the Eucharist would be demeaned and profaned by such a program, a program which in effect denies Him and the fullness of His Truth.  Father Timmy couldn’t lash out at everyone opposing heterodoxy in the Church, so he tells Cardinal Burke to shut the f–k up, implying that no one would be saying and writing anything to denounce this scheme if Cardinal Burke didn’t say anything.  In effect, he was yelling at real Catholics to shut the f–k up.  How’s that for peace and justice?

It shows actually how myopic and unpastoral Father Timmy is, and that he is so out of touch with real lay Catholics who actually believe everything the Church has proposed for our belief in matters of Faith and morals over the last 2,000 years, who actually love Jesus and will not receive Him at Holy Communion in a state of mortal sin, and will not countenance others doing so, scandalizing other Catholics.

Clearly, the heat from the spotlights is causing discomfort for many.

Father Timmy did apologize for the inappropriate tweet, but not for the actual attack.  No doubt he still believes that this is justified.  After all, his and his buddy’s “feelings” were “hurt” by the opposition to his own assault and his own public distortions of the Faith.

The millstones are truly dragging them down.  Who will be the next to try to lift the weight?

In our one catholic magazine in Adelaide one female Catholic liturgical expert this month has produced a piece of heretical nonsense claiming a priest cannot say Mass without the assembly. I await to see if our Archbishop will contradict her Protestant rubbish in the next addition.God bless Cardinal Burke.

The thought came to mind that this was more than just a frustration on Fr. Scott’s part. It seems to me this may have been a warning/threat to Cardinal Burke. If you remember, the entire ‘tweet’ went like this: ‘Just some advice to Cardinal Burke’………STFU. He was ‘advising’ him to STFU? Just some ‘advice’? A priest of the Church advising a CARDINAL? Fr. Timmy hasn’t even made the leap from Priest to Auxiliary Bishop and he is advising a Cardinal….hmm…ok…. A priest that is a ‘brother priest’ of Fr. Rosica’s. Not to mention Cardinal Wuerl’s infamous public labeling of Cardinal Burke as a ‘dissident’. These heretics are most obviously displaying their marxist like tactics on any prelate that publicly announces the truth of Christ. Did we not see the same gestapo like tactic with the FFI? Seems to be the trending M.O. of the heretics in the hierarchy. It’s all in the name of the 2015 Synod and their campaign to revamp the Church. Trust me, this will get worse before it gets better.

I see this more as an act of desperation, that they see their last opportunity to implement their warped desired changes slipping away fast, withering under the heat of the spotlights they really didn’t think would be shining on them.

And……………they will go to any length to implement their ‘warped desired change’. Pray for the Pope, and the Bishops that they will not succumb for fear of the wolves.
