I write this as I look out on a foot of snow that fell a day and a half ago. Before the snow fell, the chicken little crowd were telling us that the Northeastern United States were going to be hit with an “historic” snowstorm. These are the same folks who insist that the “science” of “man-made global warming”, or now “climate change” since the globe is not getting warmer, is “settled” and that those who do not accept the new dogmas of the new faith are insane, and in need of reeducation camps. You know, Pope Francis’ reliable experts that he will no doubt be citing in his upcoming so-called encyclical. Recall also that this encyclical will be released in June, just in time for the upcoming warmth of summer, the better to convince those of us in the northern hemisphere of the coming warmth.
Well, the Francis experts called for hurricane-force winds and 3 feet of snow, a BLIZZARD!!!, and the governments closed highways, shut down trains and robo-called to advise of the coming apocalypse. Sane people called it a change in the weather.
To call it “historic” was nonsense from the get-go. Where I am in New York, we have had many snowfalls of two or more feet; been there, shoveled that. The high winds were a concern, with the memory of losing power in the hurricane two years ago fresh in mind. That soon proved to be hyperbolic to say the least. Strong winds and hurricane-force winds are dramatically different.
When I was younger, we were sent to school with the snow coming during the day. When the roads were clogged, we had to walk home in the snow. But we went. Now, they close everything down with a couple of inches on the ground. We laughed before about the warmer climes that got a few inches and shut down because we would trod on with a foot on the ground. Now, we’ve lost that gumption, and we’ve become the girly men we used to scoff at.
During the wee hours of the morning, I looked out my window. It was snowing and there was a strong wind, but the trees weren’t half-bent as in a hurricane. I knew then I had been had by these chicken-littles. By morning, I had a little less than a foot of snow, nothing more than I’ve had many, many times before.
Those who predicted the storm’s “historic-ness” look like the complete fools they are. The models they used proved wrong, again. Yet, these same sycophants of the “global warming” or now “climate change” “scientists” would have us believe that the models they use can actually give us the “truth” about the world’s long historic weather trends, the world’s future weather trends, mankind’s effect on those trends, and the doomsday scenarios they “predict’ will happen with “certainty’ when they can’t predict the weather for tomorrow. Pope Francis will insist that you believe their dogmas though.
Tonight, I would welcome global warming very much, even if I had to move off this island where I live. There’s plenty of high ground nearby.
